Cotton Passport ( TCX )
Single-volume cotton color reference in a portable, folio-style format. Each page features 65 1.5 x 1 cm cotton chips, affixed to non-optically brightened paper. Each chip can be isolated individually with the included white mask for more accurate color evaluation. Accordion-style pages allow you to view 2,625 FHI Colors at once.
Cotton Swatch Library (TCX)
Seven-volume, six-ring binder desktop reference. 35 colors per page; 140 colors visible when pages are expanded. The 2" x 2" mini-swatches have a structured lip on the bottom to improve ease of removal of mini-swatch cards into the page. Each swatch is made from a double layer of unbacked cotton fabric, mounted on non-optically brightened paper for accurate visualization. The back of each mini-swatch includes printed color name, number, and location.
Pantone Matching System (PMS)
The Pantone Matching System (PMS) is a color standardization system that helps in color identification and matching. It uses the Pantone numbering system to identify colors, and through this numbering system printer and other equipment manufacturers can match colors without having to contact one another. The Pantone color numbers consist of a three- or four-digit number followed by the letter C, U or M, which stands for "coated," "uncoated" and "matte," respectively. The color palette in the PMS consists of about 1,114 colors. This color matching system is very helpful in avoiding color inconsistencies between the various types of print and digital media. The PMS was developed by Pantone LLC (Carlstadt, NJ, USA), which was acquired in 2007 by X-Rite, Inc. (Grand Rapids, MI, USA).
